A few months ago while on a business retreat with Bryan we got an urgent call from Dave Smith Decoys to help them out with their logo. They were having trouble getting their colors right so they called in the cavalry. Dave Smith Decoys are the manufacturer of very high quality goose and turkey decoys.
Design Brief
Develop a logo with depth and incorporate some military or earth toned colors. The original logo we received did look very flat and the color schemes did not match the perception of the DSD brand. We sent Dave several different color schemes and a few of them are attached below. Bryan and I were having a tough time picking between our favorites but eventually a winner did appear.

Once the final alternative was decided upon we made another round of refinements to the color scheme. We were burning the midnight oil and none of the concepts were feeling good until we nailed it. As soon as I finished the colors, I knew I had come up with the winner. Its amazing how things work out sometimes. We sent Dave a sheet full of logo schemes to get his opinion. I don’t like sending this many concepts but the client insisted upon it and they were very appreciative at the end of the day.
